The "Ideal Cut" is a mathematical formula for cutting diamonds to precise angles and proportions to gain the optimum reflection and refraction of light. Light rays from all sides of the diamond are bent towards the center of the stone and reflect back through the top in a rainbow blaze of light. Ideal cuts will generally be priced higher than other stones.
The Ideal cut is the combination of angles and proportions used in cutting a diamond that produce the maximum dispersion (fire) and brilliance (return of white light) through the stone.
